Honours Chemistry

The Honours Chemistry program provides students with a uniquely integrated and inquiry-based approach to research and problem-solving in chemistry and chemistry-related areas. The subject of chemistry deals with the properties and reactions of chemical substances and their interactions with energy and one another.

Chemistry is involved in the development of diverse products such as cell phones, computers, flat panel displays, biodegradable plastics, fuel and solar cells, optical communications networks and new pharmaceuticals. Chemistry is also important in detecting and identifying substances in our environment. In this program, students work in elite laboratory facilities with access to the most modern instrumentation found in any university in Canada.
